Modi to interact with 100 DMs of districts with high caseload on May 18, 20

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be interacting with District Magistrates (DMs) of 100 regions having high Covid infections in two meetings on May 18 and 20, government sources said on Thursday, as the country fights the second wave of coronavirus.

The meeting will be held with DMs of 46 districts across 9 states and 54 districts across 10 states respectively. During these interactions, chief ministers of respective states will also be present in the meetings, government sources said on Thursday.

This will be the first such interaction that the prime minister will have with top district-level administrative officers on the COVID-19 situation.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the availability and supply of oxygen and medicines to tackle Covid.

He further noted that states are being provided medicines in good quantities with the Centre in regular touch with the manufacturers to enhance their production and extend all help needed.

“India has a very vibrant pharma sector and the government’s continued close coordination with them will ensure proper availability of all medicines,” the Prime Minister said.
