New low in Indian politics: Kerala MLA uses vile words against PM Modi

CPI (M) MLA AN Shamseer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat, would have been behind the bars had Congress probed the 2002 Gujarat riots properly, claimed CPI (M) MLA AN Shamseer in the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Thursday which is a new low in the political civility of this country.

Shamseer had also asserted that former Union finance minister P Chidambaram wanted Modi to be jailed but late Congress leader Ahmed Patel didn’t let it happen.

“Just like Mary Shelley created Frankenstein, Congress created a monster called Modi. If you had probed the Gujarat genocide properly then Modi would’ve been behind bars. Chidambaram wanted to jail Modi but Ahmed Patel didn’t want it. He had a soft approach toward Modi. Due to the soft line, the monster called Modi has now gobbled even Congress,” said Shamseer.

Meanwhile former home minister of the state, Congress’ Ramesh Chennithala has condemned the vile remarks. Kerala leader of Opposition, VD Satheesan said:

“They have been making these kind of remarks for the last many days. Every Speaker from CPI(M) makes allegations against me because they are trying to defend their CM who is in trouble…All CPI(M) members are speaking against Rahul (Gandhi) Ji as well.”

“This is the language that CPI(M) is using against everybody. This is what is happening in the state. Of course in democracy, we have to criticise. We are also criticising the PM. But we are telling about his undemocratic ways. But the language- that is CPI(M)’s style. And it is not at all acceptable in a democratic (setup). This is not the way,” Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala opined.
