Opposition to meet Kovind; only 5 though could be allowed





Amid the ongoing row over newly introduced agriculture bills, the leaders from the Opposition is all set to meet President Ram Nath Kovind today at 5 PM.

However, according to ANI, only five opposition leaders including veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will be allowed to meet President due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Opposition boycotted the ongoing Monsoon session after the Centre refuses to accept its demand for withdrawing the farm bills passed by Parliament.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament from Opposition parties which boycotted Parliament met at the chamber of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition in the House to discuss their further strategy.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, on Tuesday, had also presented three demands on the behalf of opposition related to the minimum support price (MSP) of crops- The government should also bring another bill to ensure that private players will not procure food grains below the fixed MSP and MSP be based on the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Committee report.

The opposition also stressed on the revocation of suspension of eight Rajya Sabha members.
