Owaisi retort to Bhagwat: We would protest (CAA) again and again

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark that “some people misled our Muslim brother” on the CAA evoked a strong reaction from AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and said Muslims are not kids who will be “misguided”

“We’re not kids to be ‘misguided’. BJP didn’t mince words about what CAA+NRC was meant to do. If it’s not about Muslims, just remove all references to religion from the law,” Owaisi wrote in a series of tweets.

Earlier in the day, Bhagwat, while addressing the Sangh’s annual Vijayadashami rally in Nagpur, said the RSS is not against any particular religion, “but some people misled our Muslim brothers” claiming it was aimed at restricting their population.

The RSS chief also recalled the massive protests and stressed that those protests were ‘organized violence’.

“The CAA was lawfully passed in the Parliament per the due constitutional process. The law envisaged expediting the process of granting citizenship to our brother and sisters who face discrimination and persecution in some of the neighboring countries and are displaced to seek refuge in our country. These countries have a history of religious persecution against minorities. CAA does not oppose any particular religious community. But those who wanted to oppose this new law misled our Muslim brothers by propagating a false notion that it was aimed at restricting the Muslim population. Using CAA, opportunists unleashed organized violence in the name of protests. Even before something could be thought out, Corona crept in. In the background, the efforts by rioters and opportunists to reignite the conflict still continue” the RSS chief added.

“There was opposition to CAA claiming it was being used to check the Muslim population in the country. No Indian citizen was threatened due to CAA,” he had said.

The AIMIM chief declared that he and his supporters will protest “again and again” and also asserted that they will protest against any law with religion as the basis of the citizen.

Owaisi also mounted a fierce attack on the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar. “I also want to tell Congress, RJD, and their clones: your silence during the agitation is not forgotten. While BJP leaders were calling people of Seemanchal ‘ghuspethiye’, RJD-INC didn’t open their mouths once,” he said.
