Punjab’s FIR doesn’t mention any breach of PM’s security

The FIR filed by the Punjab government before the Supreme Court did not mention a breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security during his visit to Ferozepur.

The FIR was filed under the bailable section 283 of the Indian Penal Code (obstructing public ways) and just carried a maximum penalty of ₹200.

Furthermore, the FIR is also solely based on the statement of Punjab Police’s own DSP Mahendar Bansal, who is linked with Crime Against Women(CAW).

“On reaching the Krishi Bhawan route on Ferozepur-Moga, I was told that some unidentified men had blocked the route which was seeing the movement of VIPS and those who wanted to attend the rally. This happened from 2:30 pm-3 pm. When I reached the police station, there was a protest there…” the FIR contents read.

The case was filed on police officer Birbal Singh’s complaint, who the FIR said reached the flyover at 2.30pm on January 5, one-and-a-half hours after the PM got stuck turned back to the airfield in Bathinda and returned from the Punjab without attending any event.

Moreover, Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, rather than accepting the security breach, said that breach was ‘Kudrati’ or occurred naturally and later even said that breach did not exist at first place.
