Rahul Gandhi leads Congress to President’s door: ’23 Dissidents’ unhappy

Amid the on-going farmer’s protest, Congress today approached the president of India Ram Nath Kovind, and submitted around two crore signatures urging the repeal of the farm laws. Rahul Gandhi headed the delegation.

However, as per the close sources, the 23 ‘dissenting’ leaders had shown their displeasure over Rahul Gandhi leading the Congress delegation. The leaders had questioned by which authority was Rahul Gandhi leading the delegation as he is neither Leader of Opposition nor the party’s chief, as per a report in RepublicWorld.

Recently Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi met all the dissenters and according to reports several issues including poll schedules, date of voting, and delegations list were discussed in the meeting. The sources also informed that Congress will choose its next chief in a digital All India Congress Committee meeting via the electoral process in January- February 2021.

Keeping all the internal conflicts aside, after a stormy Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the grand-old party retained Sonia Gandhi as party chief till elections are called for in the next AICC meeting.

Congress has been facing a serious existential crisis due to a lack of strong leadership. when Rahul Gandhi stepped down from the party chief post due to the party’s poor performance in the crucial elections, the party turned towards its safe option- Sonia Gandhi.
