Rahul Gandhi takes a cheap shot at RSS chief for lauding Indian stance on China

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a cheap shot at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat lauding Indian forces for standing up to China’s “expansionist designs” on the occasion of Vijaydashmi celebrations at RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday.

While Bhagwat spoke at length on India’s measures which has made China “nervous” in the last few weeks, Rahul Gandhi tweeted thus:

“Deep inside, Mr Bhagwat knows the truth. He is just scared to face it. The truth is China has taken our land and GOI and RSS have allowed it.”

This what were the highlights of Bhagwat’s speech on Sunday:

“Rising above China economically and strategically, securing cooperative ties with our neighbours and at international relations is the only way to neutralise the expansionist aspirations of China and our present policies seem to be charting those very horizons.”

“Our neighbours such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, who are also our friends and countries of similar nature to a large extent, we should speed up our pace in making our relations more friendly with them,” Mohan Bhagwat said.

He said “China is still encroaching our borders” and everyone is aware of its “expansionist behaviour.” But India’s response has made them nervous.

“It’s clear to world how China encroached and is still encroaching our borders. Everyone is aware of its expansionist behaviour. This time, it has picked up a fight with Taiwan, Vietnam, US, Japan, along with India. But India’s response has made China nervous,” Mohan Bhagwat said, according to news agency ANI.

The RSS mentioned that India had responded “sharply to China’s boisterous efforts to invade our territories.”

“Bharatiya defence forces, government and the people remained unfazed and responded sharply to China’s boisterous efforts to invade our territories,” Mohan Bhagwat said.

Mohan Bhagwat said our country intends to be friendly with all as it is “our neighbours” but “mistaking our benevolence for weakness and attempts to disintegrate or weaken us by sheer brute force is unacceptable”.

“We intend to be friendly with all. This is our nature. But mistaking our benevolence for weakness and attempts to disintegrate or weaken us by sheer brute force is unacceptable. Our reckless detractors should know this by now,” Mohan Bhagwat said.

“The message sent by our leaders with a sense of self-respect and the indomitable ethical-patience of our citizens must compel China to reform its attitude but if push comes to shove we will not fall short of alertness, firmness and readiness,” Mohan Bhagwat said.

Speaking about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Mohan Bhagwat said CAA “does not oppose any particular religious community”. He said those who wanted to “oppose the new law misled our Muslim brothers by propagating a false notion”.

“CAA does not oppose any particular religious community. But those who wanted to oppose this new law misled our Muslim brothers by propagating a false notion that it was aimed at restricting the Muslim population.” The RSS chief also said that using CAA, “opportunists unleashed organised violence in the name of protests”

“Using CAA, Opportunists unleashed organised violence in the name of protests. Even before something could be thought out, Corona crept in. In the background, the efforts by rioters and opportunists to reignite the conflict still continues,” Mohan Bhagwat said.
