Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul would open the innings for India in the T20s against England, it was confirmed by skipper Virat Kohli today.
It means Shikhar Dhawan would be benched.
Kohli said “X factors” have been added to the lineup.
“We want to play free cricket, we have explosive batsmen in the team now. That’s exactly what we are trying to address. This time around you will see players bat more freely. I see us being much more free with our approach from this series onwards,” he added.
These are run-up events for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India in October-November later this year. Kohli has termed England as “favourites.”
The present T20 series would be held in Narendra Modi stadium in Ahemdabad with the first game beginning on Friday.
