Ruturaj is a ‘superstar in the making’, says Shane Watson

Former Australian all-rounder and current Chennai Super Kings opener Shane Watson was full of praise of his fellow teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad and called him the ‘superstar in making’ on his back-to-back match-winning half centuries against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.

The young batsman didn’t have a good start and scored just 5 runs in the first three matches. However, he has rediscovered his form, made full use of the second chance, and scored a match-winning half-century.

Gaikwad scored 72 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders and was named as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his knock.

After the game, he was interviewed by his senior Shane Watson and the veteran heaped high praise on the youngster, stating that he looks so calm and composed at the crease and it was an ‘absolute pleasure’ for him to be able to bat alongside the young star.

Not only Shane Watson but the CSK skipper MS Dhoni also expressed his delight the way Ruturaj grabbed his chances in the competition even after having a tough start to his stay in the UAE.

“he’s one of the most talented players around. What makes it difficult is he’s not somebody who speaks a lot. So sometimes it becomes difficult for the management to gauge a player. Once he started going in the innings, you could see that he was hitting the ball the way he wants.” said MS Dhoni.

Ruturaj has said in the dressing room he doesn’t feel like the team is out of the tournament as the atmosphere is pretty relaxed and this has helped him to continue the game.
