A documentary “TrustWHO” questions the role of World Health Organization and whether it has ceded its control to billionaires such as Bill Gates who provide key funding.
It raises the important question whether power and profits have gained precedence over public health.
Though the WHO is run by member states which donate public funds, it also relies heavily on private donors. One of them is Gates Foundation, its largest private funder.
WHO’s list of top 20 donors for the two-year budget cycle of 2018 and 2019 reveals that the Gates Foundation contributed $531 million, or 12% of WHO’s budget.
Further, Gates routes funding through his different ventures including GAVI, SAGE [Strategic Advisory Group of Experts], UNICEF, and Rotary International, bringing his total contributions to over $1 billion.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s in his new book “Vax-Unvax”, which is set to release in November 2021, explicitly targets Gates funding and points out how the major influence from a single private foundation has changed the entire global health agenda of the WHO.
Gates Foundation reported a $40 million stake in CureVac—one of the dozens of investments the Foundation is said to be having in companies working on Covid vaccines. The Foundation has also announced that it will “leverage a portion of its $2.5 billion Strategic Investment Fund” to advance its work on Covid. These investments show that the world’s most influential voices in the pandemic response are in a position to potentially reap considerable financial gains from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Gates’ vaccine obsession has diverted WHO from its goal of poverty alleviation, nutrition, clean water to make vaccine uptake its preeminent public health metric. The sheer magnitude of his foundation’s financial contributions has made Bill Gates an unofficial —unelected — leader of the WHO,” Kennedy has mentioned in his book.
The problem with funding arises as the Gates Foundation isn’t fully transparent and accountable.
As the Gates Foundation is such an influential funder of WHO and other global health institutions including GAVI, it “limits and compromises the number of people who will call the foundation out” if something goes wrong.
The documentary also reveals how WHO pursued politics over public health by helping Beijing spread disinformation about the Coronavirus outbreak and excluding Taiwan and its wealth of knowledge about the disease.
On Jan. 28, 2020, four weeks after Taiwan had alerted WHO that a mysterious respiratory illness was spreading in China, the WHO had not yet taken action.
WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who despite having no medical degree was chosen head, allegedly due to his close ties with Gates, continued to praise China for their transparency. He said the Chinese president had “shown ‘rare leadership’ and deserved ‘gratitude and respect’ for acting to contain the outbreak at the epicenter.”
However, he very conveniently ignores the fact that it was majorly China’s pattern of concealment, delay, obfuscation, and outright lying that caused irreparable harm to the rest of the world.
An investigation report by Sunday Times pointed out this fact: “The WHO leadership prioritized China’s economic interests over halting the spread of the virus when Covid-19 first emerged. China exerted ultimate control over the WHO investigation into the origins of Covid-19, appointing its chosen experts and negotiating a backroom deal to water down the mandate.”
When Tedros was given the job of discovering how the virus first came to infect humans, his team struck an agreement in secret with China that emasculated the inquiry, claims the documentary.
Furthermore, China was given a veto over the choice of the non-Chinese experts. When the US put forward three scientists, including a laboratory expert, they were all rejected by the WHO without even a phone call. The only US representative that was chosen by the WHO was Peter Daszak, and not surprisingly, he shares professional ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which is said to be the originator of the Coronavirus.
The “TrustWHO” documentary presents another instance of how the WHO declared swine flu a pandemic after only 144 people had died from the infection worldwide in 2010. Experts later called swine flu a “false pandemic” that was driven by Big Pharma, which then cashed in on the health scare.
In the month leading up to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, the WHO changed the official definition of pandemic, removing the severity and high mortality criteria and leaving the definition of a pandemic as “a worldwide epidemic of a disease.”
Further, the documentary claims WHO has had allegiance to Big Pharma and other industries, including downplaying the health effects caused by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster and collaborating with opioid giant Purdue.
The documentary show WHO’s U-turn from public health to crass politics. It says the WHO has lost the ability to advance global public health as it has no longer credibility as a source of impartial information and expertise.
