Women’s commission chief raises ‘Love Jihad’ issue with the Maharashtra governor





The head of the National Women’s Commission, Rekha Sharma, met with the Maharashtra governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari and raised the issue of “Love Jihad.”

“Madam Chairperson raised the issue of rise in love jihad cases in Maharashtra. She highlighted a distinction between consensual inter-faith marriages and love jihad and said that the latter required attention,” a statement from the Commission read.

Later, the National Commission also tweeted, “Our Chairperson @harmasharmarekha met with Bhagat Singh Koshyari, His Excellency, Governor of Maharashtra and mentioned points associated to #womensafety within the state together with defunct One Cease Facilities, molestation and rape of girls sufferers at # COVID facilities and rise in love jihad instances “.

Love Jihad is an alleged activity wherein Muslims entice girls into conversions by faking love and the fallout could be the change in demography of society.
