Let’s start by stating a simple fact – probably 90% of the influence peddlers in Bollywood would not know the proper expansion and spelling of AI, leave alone understand how to work towards introducing it into the entertainment media. And probably 90% of the rest of the entertainment industry in India, especially in non-Bollywood locations, was and is already working towards it.

If there is one image from a hugely popular movie that defines all that was wrong with Bollywood in terms of gender issues, agreed that there is a vast choice, but for me this one spells why I pretty much stopped going to mainstream Bollywood Hindi movies with or without the family. What made it worse was that I still recall loading 13 young children in the age group of 3 to 13 into Balcony seats at Alankar Cinema Hall in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, to see this movie. A whole generation of Indians, maybe two, grew up thinking that this was the route to successful courtship. Shah Rukh Khan waving a young girl’s bra as some sort of getting close and cozy?
The next big point that emerges from Bollywood is this fascination with fair skin. Arian Romal, the late Sushant Rajput’s business partner in an ambitious Artificial Intelligence project, spells it out in this tweet. Much more than all the so-called feministas who seemingly had no issues with the various endorsements for skin whitening creams and techniques. These are just two of the narratives that Kangana Ranaut appears to be taking on, in addition to the relatively minor issue of recreational consumption of substances, which are just one part of the larger narrative mosaic that Bollywood really has become. But if you listen to the interview in its entirety, and it takes a bit more than a solid hour, then the real deep narratives that she appears to be taking on emerge.
And the biggest one, like the proverbial elephant in the room, is the resurgence of the Mughal greatness fake story in the National Narrative. For which Bollywood has been steadily working its way up – Sholay being an example of the terrible Hindu daaku/bandit vs the genial village Maulvi. Come to think of it – when was the last time you saw a movie from Bollywood with a credible narrative on the better aspects of Hinduism? Think hard – when the South Indian film industry came up with Bahubaali, the response from Bollywood was “Thugs of Hindoostan”.
All this was going to change. Correction – is going to change. And it seems Sushant Singh Rajput was right in the centre of this change. Not an easy job, but something that a technically sound person, with the correct kind of networking going back to school and college, would have been able to pull off. Please appreciate – there was not a single other film star in the whole of Bollywood who had even the faintest clue on the latest and huge movements globally in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and especially, therein, subliminal mind management.
